There is no Shame in Seeking Help
Updated: Apr 3, 2020
These are uncertain times and many in our community and our world are hurting in ways they never have before. If you find yourself struggling to pay your bills or get food on the table for your family or yourself, please read this.
There is no shame in seeking help. We are here to provide food to people who are hungry. You may have never been in this situation before and it is scary, but it is not something to feel ashamed or guilty about. You cannot figure out a path forward if your brain is foggy from hunger, if your kids are irritable because they are hungry, or if you and your partner are arguing about minor things because you don't know how you will pay the bills. If this is you right now, please come to the Damiano Center for a meal for yourself and your family. We are here for you.
Please visit us during the times that we are providing bagged meals. There are tables set up outside on the west side during Community Kitchen meal times and on the east side during Kids' Kitchen meals. You can park your car in the parking lot if you drive. Go up to the table and take a bag - it is that simple. Take two bags if you have someone at home who you are trying to keep safe from the pandemic. You will not be asked your name, your income, or any invasive questions. You do not ever have to justify your hunger.
If your kids are driving you crazy from being cooped up in the house, a walk to the Damiano Center might be just what they need. Some fresh air and a full belly might make the world feel a little less dangerous right now. These are uncertain times, but you can always count on Damiano to feed you, no matter who you are or why you are hungry.
