Volunteer With Us

How You Can Help

Volunteers are essential to meeting the mission of the Damiano Center. Each year over 700 people volunteer in our programs and contribute over 13,000 hours of service. This work helps us meet the tremendous demand for services and ensures that our programs are effective, efficient and sustainable.

The Damiano Center currently has the following opportunities available to individuals and groups:

Soup Kitchen

Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and clean up after meal service, shifts typically last 5 hours. Volunteers work with a cook and dishwasher and in groups of up to 8 volunteers.

Pick up baked goods and other foods at Cub Foods (and other locations as needed) and deliver to the Damiano Center for use in meal programs.  Food salvage runs operate Monday through Friday mornings.

Kids Café

Assist with the preparation, serving of meals, assist or lead activities with the kids and help with clean up.

Clothing Exchange

Assist in the accepting, sorting and display donated items.

Assist donors and shoppers with their needs.

Damiano Social Services

Serve as a first point of contact for people calling on DSS for assistance.

Clothes That Work

Assist in the accepting, sorting and display donated items.

Assist donors and shoppers with their needs.

Building

Assist in the cleaning and general upkeep of the building.

Administration

Perform light clerical functions.

Assist with bulk mailing of donor appeals and newsletters.
